A friend just asked me to recomend a few places to eat lunch in Ibiza as she knows that I adore a long lazy afternoon meal and that I adore Ibiza. It is the perfect place to lazy about over a splate of seafood and glass of wine while waiting for the minday heat to die down.
Bon Profit in Ibiza town just on the square by Hostel Parc. They only open for lunch between 12 and 2. It is amazingly cheap and great simple no fuss food. What is lacks in romance in most definatly makes up for in value.
Hostel Parc with its over worked waitresses still remins one of the best people watching places for a coffee or orange juice. Do not subject yourself to the food unless it is breakfast time.
Casa Juan is an all round winner. It looks great and tastes great at a great price. I could happily eat three meals a day here. The best paella on the island for only 5.00

After dancing the night away to LCD Sound System I cooked up a big pot of sweet and spicy Tom Yum Soup to help with the hang overs. It was the perfect cure on one of those long and lazy afternoons when none of our guests had anywhere to go. We sat around the table chatting until the light had faded and we barely noticed we had not switched the lamp on. Great company, good food the perfect day.

2 large cups of fish stock or vegetable bullion
2 sticks of lemon grass, the large white end finely chopped
5 kaffir lime leaves, crushed
2 chillies, finely sliced
¼ cup of fish sauce
1 large tbs of tom yum paste
juice of 2 limes
a little sugar and black pepper if necessary
cooked noodles
a handful of raw prawns, washed
2 bulbs of bok choy cut into strips
a small bunch of spring onions cut into strips
coriander to dress the soup
Beat the lemon grass with the base of your knife to release the flavours, then cut the long thin leaves away from the fatter, whiter base end. Discard these as they are very tough. Very finely slice the fat part of the lemongrass and add it to your stock, add the crushed lime leaves, sliced chillies, fish sauce and tom yum paste. Start to heat your soup.
In another pot boil your noodles and drain the water.
Add these to the soup pot and squeeze in your limes, taste it and see if you need a pinch of sugar or some black pepper.Different brands of Tom Yum paste vary slightly so add a little more or less of something if you wish.
Lay your prawns on top of the bubbling soup. When they are starting to turn pink turn them and then place your sliced spring onions on top. Also place your bok choy on top. You just want the veg to steam lightly and keep its crunch.
Ladle into bowls and serve with some chopped coriander.
